A new California law protects consumers who write negative reviews about a business on sites like Yelp. It especially protects them from disparagement clauses, clauses that some businesses put in their terms of service that seek to prohibit consumers from complaining about the business or even fining them for doing so. Of course, this law protects protected speech not defamatory speech.
