Shine Your Porch Light on Friday in Honor of Fallen Officer

My cousin, Officer Melvin Santiago, was killed in the line of duty this past weekend and will be laid to rest tomorrow, Friday, July 18.  Would you please join the nation in honoring him and other fallen officers by turning on your porch lights this Friday evening?  This event was established by 53 Hours, a nonprofit organization created to honor fallen officers.  You can get an Officer Melvin Santiago memorial bracelet here.

Thank you to everyone who has written me with their condolences.  All the love I see for my cousin on Facebook and in the community shows that good does conquer evil.  While a tragedy like this can shake our faith, I think of Anne Frank’s words and I still believe that people are really good at heart.
