3rd Annual Summer Spit BBQ, Saturday, June 8, 2013, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., The Garden at Studio Square NYC, Long Island City, Queens:  Unlimited BBQ by Chef David Burke.  Menu features whole hog on a spit, pulled pork, pork belly and peach doughnuts.  Tickets $60-$95.

34th Annual New York Mississippi Picnic, Saturday, June 8, 2013, noon to 6 p.m., Central Park:  Catfish lunches, artists and music to celebrate Mississippi.

11th Annual Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, Saturday, June 8, 2013 and Sunday, June 9, 2013, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Madison Square Park, Manhattan:  Sample barbecue from pitmasters around the country, including Texas, North Carolina, Illinois, Nevada, Missouri, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, South Carolina and New York City.  Admission is free.  $9 a plate.
