Weekend Whets 1/25

A Wing & A Prayer, Saturday, January 26, 2013, 6 p.m., Elks Club, Hoboken:  Local restaurants compete in the first annual event to determine who has the best wings in Hoboken.  Tickets are $40 and all proceeds go to local families affected by Hurricane Sandy.

Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival, Saturday, January 26, 2013, 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 5:30 to 9:30 p.m., The Tunnel, 608 West 28th Street, Manhattan:  Southern food festival in two sessions, one on bacon and one on whole hog.  Each has tastings of beer, bourbon, pulled pork bbq, ribs and fixins.  With bluegrass music.  Tickets are $99 and $109.

Midnight Brunch:  Whisky and Meatballs from Around the World, Saturday, January 26, 2013, 11 p.m.:   A midnight brunch featuring whiskeys and international-style meatballs for food lovers.  Tickets are $80.

Filled with Love:  Ravioli 101, Sunday, January 27, 2013, 11 a.m., Giovanni Rana Pastificio & Cucina, 75 9th Avenue, Chelsea Market, Manhattan:  The restaurant and shop’s first pasta making class followed by a lunch of the freshly made ravioli.  $35.

Meatball Takedown, Sunday, January 27, 2013, 2 p.m., Bell House, Brooklyn:  Anyone can bring meatballs for this competition.  Tickets are $15.

NYChiliFest, Sunday, January 27, 2013, 7 p.m., Chelsea Market, 88 10th Avenue, Manhattan:  Chili tastings and one will be crowned the best.  Tickets are $50.

Hudson Restaurant Week, Monday, January 28, 2013 to February 8, 2013, Hudson County, NJ:  Discounted prix-fixe menus at Hudson County restaurants.

Jimmy’s No. 43 Oyster Shuck and Talk, Thursday January 31, 2013, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., 43 East 7th St. btwn 2nd and 3rd Ave., Manhattan:  a benefit for Slow Food NYC.
