Today is National Cake Day. I got some love for my post on a cake from Minamoto Kitchoan. Speaking of which, I tried the bakery’s Japanese honey sponge cake, kasutera. The sponge cake is perfectly executed, with a browned crust on top and bottom and a subtle honey flavor.
