The cake case at the Little Cupcake Bakeshop is full of color. Bright red velvet cake to pale lemon to dark chocolate Brooklyn blackout. The cutesy bakery serves these classic favorites along with banana pudding, pies, cookies and pints of ice cream. I chose the dreaming princess cupcake because it was different. Yes, the red velvet beckoned me, especially the pink ice cream with layers of red cake. But after a cupcake, I couldn’t eat a pint of ice cream.
Verdict: An almond-flavored white cake cupcake with buttercream frosting, topped with raspberry filling and meringue icing sprinkled with almond slivers. The airiness of the meringue and white cake along with the white color tinted a pinkish hue is fit for a fairy princess. The buttercream frosting gives it a little more oomph and balances the sweetness.
