One advantage of working so close to Grand Central is going to the Grand Central Market. I found sea beans (Salicornia) there. Not knowing what they were, I looked them up and found that they are succulent plants that grow in salt marshes and beaches. It looks like a cross between a tiny asparagus and a cactus. Known for having a high salt content, indeed, they are extremely salty. After running under water, I ate a few of them but couldn’t eat more because it was way too salty for me. I would try cooking them and see if that decreases some of the saltiness.
