Epicerie Boulud

The nice weather  has had some NYC restaurants setting up tables outside.  Epicerie Boulud is no exception.  I didn’t have time to linger in the sunshine at the high-top tables, so I got some cake slices to go:  Gateau Basque, an almond tart with kirsch (cherry brandy) and a brioche with vanilla creme fraiche and crystallized sugar.  As I walked, the cakes fell in the box.  Some of the creme fraiche got onto the side of the box.  I finally understand that cheese paper commercial of Hardee’s.
