When I first moved to NYC, a friend said that he heard that if you ate at a different restaurant for three meals a day, it would take you all your life to eat at every restaurant in NYC. According to the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, there are 24,000 restaurants in NYC. Doing the math, at three meals a day, it would take 22 years to eat at every restaurant. Of course, there are always new restaurants popping up, so not sure how to account for that. And it seems like a daunting task, as there are so many bad restaurants out there too.
