Thursday night I went to City Lobster and Steak for Restaurant Week. I was supposed to do lunch at Telepan yesterday and dinner at Smith & Wollensky to wrap up my Restaurant Week, but due to the heat wave, I had to cancel Telepan and Smith & Wollensky. So City Lobster was my last indulgence in NYC Restaurant Week.
City Lobster and Steak is a great restaurant for groups, as there are many tables and booths accommodating larger parties. As you walk in, you see the lobster tank and you know that one of those guys will soon be your dinner. No, this is not a restaurant for animal activists. In fact, though we were all seafood eaters, as we partook in our lobsters, we couldn’t help feeling bad that we were eating an animal. However, that didn’t stop us from cracking claws and dipping shreds of lobster meat in melted butter.
For first course, I ordered the CANADIAN LOBSTER, CLAM, CRABMEAT & CORN CHOWDER. It was almost smooth with a good flavor; however, I was hoping it would be more chunky.
The main course was the DOWN EAST 1 ¼ LB. LOBSTER BAKE Long Island Littleneck Clams, P.E.I. Mussels, Corn & New Potatoes.
For dessert, Florida key lime pie, which was OK.
